Egg Carton Bell Ornament
Materials:
Used Egg Carton
Foil
Christmas Colored (Dark shades of red or green, silver, gold, even royal blue or purple are nice) Pipe Cleaner
Small Christmas Theme Embellishments accompanied with some type of hanger whether it be yarn, thread, wire or pipe cleaner. If your chosen embellishments do NOT have some type of hanger you will have to improvise by wrapping an edge or by wrapping a few embellishments together to make an arrangement using the aforementioned items.

Jingle bells like these:

http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=akingar-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=B000F8V63C&ref=tf_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr           http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=akingar-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=B000F8X9T6&ref=tf_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr         http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=akingar-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=B002USJAA6&ref=tf_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr

Cut the egg holder portions apart. Cut the foil into squares large enough @ 4” X 4” to cover each egg holder. Poke a small hole in the end of each egg holder Personally, I use a letter opener, if you do not have one, an ice pick is cool or some other strong pointed object.
O.K. now, take one piece of foil square and wrap it around the outside of the egg holder folding the edges into the inside of the egg holder.
Then take your chosen colored pipe cleaner (see above under materials) cut it in half. Now slip one jingle bell on one end of the pipe cleaner and twist to secure it. Next poke the other end of the pipe cleaner through the hole from the underside of the egg holder. Wrap your embellishment around the pipe cleaner, loop the pipe cleaner into a circle and twist the ends to secure.
Hang your bell on your tree and watch it reflect the lights. WHOAH, they turned out more bitchener than I thought, why even Julian’s plain bell orn rocks the Christmas Tree scene!!!

Christmas Bell Advent Count Down
Materials:
Empty Cereal Box or Tagboard
Colored tissue paper cut in 1″ – 2″ squares

Colored Construction Paper

White Glue

Christmas Colored (Dark shades of red or green, silver, gold, even royal blue or purple are nice) Pipe Cleaner cut in half

Christmas Sticker or Glitter

Liquid Starch
Paint Brush

Hole Punch

Poem Printed on Paper and Pre Cut
Get your FREE Bell Template from our Teacher’s Notebook Store here:

Directions:

Make a “Master Pattern”

Print out your Bell template. If using an empty cereal box you will need to make a “Master Pattern” by stapling the printed template onto a piece of tagboard then cut out.

Using Your Master Pattern

Cut out one of the large sections of the box. Trace your pattern onto the cut out box section. Cut the pattern out. Trace the clapper piece onto a piece of  construction paper and cut out.

Clapper Assembly

Glue the construction paper clapper onto the cardboard clapper, then set the clapper aside to dry.

Once the clapper is dry, you may either place a Christmas sticker or glitter on the end of the clapper as shown in the example picture.  If using glitter, let dry.

Bell

Pour some liquid starch into a bowl. Scatter some tissue squares on a flat surface such as a tray for easy color selection.  Have your child dip the brush into the liquid starch and brush the starch onto a section of their bell. Direct them to take a piece of tissue paper and lay it on top of the starch painted section. Brush some starch over the tissue and repeat until all areas have been covered with the tissue squares. Set aside to dry.

Poem

Glue the following poem onto the bell, let dry:

How many days till Christmas?
It is mighty hard to tell.
Take off one link every night
When the Sandman casts his spell.
Christmas will be here
By the time you reach the bell.

Another Version:
December first to Christmas
is the longest time of the year.
It seems as though old Santa
never will appear. How many
days until Christmas? It is mighty
hard to count. This paper chain
will tell you the exact amount.
Undo a link each evening when
the sandman casts his spell.
Christmas will be here by the
time you reach the bell.

Advent Chain

Next make a chain out of the construction paper using 25 – 1″ X 8 1/2″  strips. Now decorate each strip using Christmas stickers, glitter designs, or you can number them 1 – 24.  If using glitter, let dry. Now take one strip, turn it in a circle and glue the ends together. Take another strip and loop it through the first circle then glue the ends together. Repeat the process until 24 strips are connected. Let dry. Loop the last strip through the chain but do not turn the ends towards each other, lay them flat on top of each other and glue them together. Glue the chain with the flattened end on to the strip of the clapper. This last link only attaches the chain to the clapper so keep it as flat and as short as you can so it does not look like a link as again, it is only a connector. Let dry.

Hanging

Punch a hole in the top of the bell. Run the pipe cleaner through the hole, loop and twist for the hanger. Hang your Christmas Bell Advent where your child is able to reach it. Every night before they go to bed, have them tear off a link indicating the day is done. When all 24 links are torn off, the next day is Christmas.

Make a “Master Pattern”

Print out your Bell Foto Ornament template. If using an empty cereal box you will need to make a “Master Pattern” by stapling the printed template onto a piece of tagboard then cut out. Also cut the inside circle out but do NOT discard.

Using Your Master Pattern

Trace your “Master Pattern” onto your chosen color foam sheet, then cut out. Using the inside circle as a guide, place it on your chosen craft foam, enlarge the circle by adding an extra 1/4″ – 1/2″ when cutting as this will be placed on the back of your foto to hide it on the backside of your Bell Foto Ornament.

Bell Foto Ornament Assembly

Trim your chosen foto to fit inside the circle. Next glue it onto the backside of the ornament. Then take your enlarged circle and glue it over the back of your foto. Let dry. Now you may add some glitter to decorate your Bell Foto Ornament if you like. Let dry. Finally, punch a hole near the top of your Bell Foto Ornament. Thread the ribbon or yarn through the punched hole and tie into a loop to hang on your tree or tie in a knot close to the hole leaving the ends free to tie onto a gift.

Directions:
Have your child decorate the cup. Get your yarn length and tie a bell on one end. Then punch a hole in the top of the cup with again, I use a letter opener, if you do not have one, an ice pick is cool or some other strong pointed object. Now push the yarn through the hole, tie a knot in the yarn at the top, then make a loop and tie. If you want to tie several bells together, omit the loop until you have tied them, then make a loop for hanging.
